Overview
The Guardair PowerQUAD 55-Gallon ATEX Vacuum Kit (PQ55C200ATEX) is a compressed-air-powered wet/dry vacuum with a 2" inlet for combustible dust and approved hazardous locations. ATEX-certified for gas and dust atmospheres, it uses electrically bonded components, grounding options, and static-conductive attachments to eliminate static electricity at the source; proper grounding is required during operation. Three injector nozzle sets let crews balance compressed-air use and vacuum performance, while the 2-stage multi-venturi engine has no electric motor or power cord. Proudly assembled in the USA.

How do PowerQUAD compressed air-powered vacuums work?
PowerQUAD vacuums use compressed air to create low pressure, generating vacuum flow through a venturi effect for efficient suction without needing an electric motor.
What are the advantages of compressed air-powered vacuums over electric vacuums?
Compressed air-powered vacuums avoid motor burnout, eliminate electrical hazards, reduce Total Cost of Ownership, and offer higher suction power, especially for heavy materials.
What is the difference between Vacuum Flow and Vacuum Lift?
Vacuum Flow measures air volume through the hose, impacting debris movement, while Vacuum Lift measures the height a vacuum can lift materials, key for deep cleaning.
How do vacuums generate static electricity?
Static electricity is created as air moves over the vacuum hose’s internal surface, influenced by air composition, humidity, and material type.
What size air compressor do I need to operate a PowerQUAD vacuum effectively?
For optimal performance, PowerQUAD vacuums typically require an air compressor capable of delivering 4 cubic feet per minute (cfm) per horsepower (HP). For example, a 50 HP compressor will provide about 200 cfm, ideal for continuous operation. Check the PowerQUAD specifications to match your setup accurately.
Can I use any steel drum with my PowerQUAD vacuum generating head?
No. PowerQUAD vacuum generating heads produce extremely high head. Generating vacuum lift of up to 255 inches of H2O running on 80-90 psi of compressed air, they have been known to implode. See the "Specifications" tab for the minimum required steel drum gauge.
Does Guardair offer HEPA and ULPA filters for PowerQUAD vacuums?
Yes, Guardair provides HEPA and ULPA filters for PowerQUAD vacuums, alongside standard filters, to support a variety of cleaning needs.
